<p>Eek!!! I’m so excited to start our 21-day &#8220;kind of hard&#8221; challenge. I’ve decided the month of June is going to be my month to take a step towards 75-day hard and do my own lighter version. The summer is a really tough time to go for 2 and a half months with no cheat meals, no drinks, tons of working out, etc. So we’re going to work on our mental toughness without making ourselves crazy and I think 21 days feels like the perfect amount of time. </p>



<p>Over the course of 21 days, we&#8217;ll focus on activities that will push you toward your goals and establish positive habits. Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;ll be doing each day::</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Complete a 20-30 min workout&nbsp;</li>



<li>Complete a 30 min outdoor workout&nbsp;</li>



<li>Get at least 7k steps</li>



<li>Read or listen to at least 10 min of personal development&nbsp;</li>



<li>Drink 60+ oz of water&nbsp;</li>



<li>Follow a nutrition plan&nbsp;</li>



<li>Check-in&nbsp;</li>
</ul>



<p>This is totally doable for 21 days. I’m not even necessarily going to take out alcohol however I am thinking about it. Alcohol is such a weird thing. I am convinced I want a glass of wine, but I feel so good overall when I don’t drink. It seems like it’s just another one of those life conundrums.</p>



<p><strong>Routines, HABITS, and why they matter&#8230;</strong></p>



<p>Routines are just a set of activities until you do them long enough that they become a part of your life &#8211; they become your habits. Around half our daily actions are driven by repetition so if you’re wondering why you can’t stop late-night snacking, it’s because it’s just become part of your habits. It’s time to start a new routine and turn it into a habit. </p>



<p>When we realize this, we can start to understand that if you have a habit of drinking every night and you don’t think that’s something that is supporting your goals, you can change it. It will take time and repetition (not drinking every night), but you can change it. </p>



<p>Now you don’t have to say, I’m not a morning person. You can just become a morning person by working on building a new habit.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s what our 21 days of these activities will do. It will help you build new habits. You probably won’t keep all of them but it will show you what you can accomplish in a day.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>No more excuses. </strong></p>



<p>I will be following a &#8220;plate it&#8221; method of nutrition and I’m so excited! I started this week and it’s just fun to do something new. It’s stretching my thinking and making me realize the different ways I quietly use food to fill time and space. When you move to 3 square meals a day + a snack you become much more aware of the quiet grazing that was happening and you can work on figuring out how to change it. </p>



<p>I’m also going to be starting 9 week control freak &#8211; one of my favorite workout programs using a <a href="https://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/us/d/9-week-control-freak-accessories-bundle-9WCFAccessoryBundle?referringRepId=2468593">wall track</a> that does amazing things for your back and core &#8211; yay for working on a bathing suit body. </p>

<p>We now have Super Blocks and BODi Blocks that start on the first Monday of every month!&nbsp;</p>



<p>Each Block features 5 workouts a week for 3 weeks, followed by an “UP Week” (which stands for “Unconditional Progress”) to reset and recover.</p>

<p>Honestly, if I had a dollar for every Monday I woke up and gained at least one more pound than I had lost the week before I’d be a millionaire. It is amazing how many weeks and weekends can go by with the exact same behavior and the exact same unwanted result Monday morning and I still didn’t make a change.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Change is hard &#8211; but at the end of the day the only thing we can count on is that things change, but if we want something different than we have to DO something different.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Weekends became like a weekly emotional and physical trauma. I would try to eat healthy (which used to mean very little or very restricted) during the week and then eat with reckless abandon on the weekend. This rollercoaster I was on for decades was horrible for my self image, confidence, mood, my gut health, and overall well-being.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It wasn’t until I hit 40 that I knew I didn’t want to be on this particular ride anymore. I was so tired of being tired and feeling bloated and never having anything to wear.</p>



<p>First, I needed to figure out how to start eating normally again and implementing some sort of regular movement into my life. Once I conquered that I knew I needed to extend these habits into my weekend so that I could truly start feeling my best and reach my potential.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Now here’s the thing, you’re not going to like all of these recommendations because you’ve been staying up late, drinking all the drinks, and sleeping in but if you implement as much as you can you will like the results.&nbsp; Here we go:&nbsp;</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Stop Sleeping In!&nbsp;</strong>&#8211; Honestly, waking up before everyone else is even better on the weekends because you don’t have to rush people around right at 8am. Getting to bed at relatively the same time every day + getting up early will have you sleeping better, give you more energy during the day and more time for exercise. The list goes on.&nbsp;</li>



<li><strong>Use your Weekends to Extend Your Workout!&nbsp;</strong>&#8211; Choose a longer workout prioritizing moving your body on the weekends and have your body burn fat all day long! This is also a perfect time to walk with a friend. Two healthy ways to boost your happy hormones instead of using food to bring you temporary joy.&nbsp;</li>



<li><strong>Plan One Meal a Day to be a Big Deal Not All of Them!&nbsp;</strong> &#8211; You know on the weekends we roll from one ridiculous meal to the next. We have to stop doing that. Start by choosing one meal to splurge on and keep the rest tight. Make a late breakfast as a family and then be disciplined about lunch and dinner. If you’re going out to eat, choose a light breakfast and lunch. 3 overindulgent meals for 2 days will quickly undo everything you did the last 5. Sad but true.&nbsp;</li>



<li><strong>Limit Alcohol&nbsp;</strong>&#8211; This is huge because alone it adds pounds and reduces mental clarity but it usually also leads to lots of extra eating. We all have nights, occasions, vacations where we want to drink more so the days when it’s not a thing then don’t make it a thing.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>



<p>We’re all about progress over perfection over here so don’t get too worked up about implementing all of these at once. It will take focus on both nutrition and movement on the weekends if you really want to see change and want to regain your energy on the weekends!&nbsp;</p>

<p>When <strong>4-Week Gut Protocol</strong> came out I thought, “I already eat pretty clean and I watch my macros” so of course I’ll try this, but I wasn’t necessarily thinking it would make much of a difference. </p>



<p>But here’s the thing, every time I actually dial in to a nutrition plan I realize something I was ignoring about how I eat and how it’s affecting my mood, weight, energy, and so on.  That was definitely the case with <em>4-Week Gut Protocol</em>. <br><br>I had never considered myself to be someone with food sensitivities.  That’s probably because “food sensitivities” meant something formal to me like abdominal pain or Dr. Diagnosis. <br><br>I quickly realized after starting the program how my skin looked, how I felt when I woke up, and how inflamed my face and stomach looked day-to-day had actually been indicating there were foods bothering my system.  Foods like gluten, sugar, and too much red meat.  It was a physical representation of not liking something I was eating.</p>



<p>My husband and I started Gut Protocol on a Monday and did a bit of prep the day before.  With this program you need to figure out what’s on your food lists and you need to break down your macros a bit further than with the traditional Portion Fix program. </p>



<p>Proteins and Carbs have to be broken down further than just protein and carbs.  Half your protein needs to be plant-based for instance. </p>



<p>You take a probiotic and digestive enzyme that helps you break down your food and absorb more of the nutrients.  I am super sensitive to vitamins, probiotics, and pills in general so I was pleasantly surprised to find I had zero nausea with these supplements. </p>



<p>You drink Vegan Shakeology, take your probiotic and enzymes, and follow the meal plan.  After a week I could tell I was less inflamed and starting to see my stomach look leaner. Just cutting sugar out will do all that, but I also felt proud of what I was eating and how I was taking care of myself.  My skin is clearer when I follow this plan and I am always more mentally focused when I cut processed foods from my diet. </p>

<p>“Today is the start of a new adventure, a new challenge to face, new memories to make, and new obstacles to overcome.”</p>



<p>Today is Day 1 of our 21 day Pop Up Challenge to Spring Break.  I’ll admit, I tend to love and hate the first day of a Challenge.  I’m half proud of myself and half scared that I won’t be able to commit.  Over time, I’ve embraced progress over perfection and realized that it’s much more fun and feasible when we do it together!&nbsp;</p>



<p>A few years ago I saw a friend on social media who looked radiant, happy, and was in the best shape of her life.  My oldest daughter was 3 and my twins were nearly 2 and I wanted what she had. I signed up for her program, but I did it on my own.  I went out to the website and got all the tools and resources.  I didn’t tell her. I didn’t want to admit I wanted to change and needed help to do it.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The package came and I was excited but I didn’t have a plan.  I wasn’t feeling the same drive and joy she seemed to have.  I reached out to her and said, “hey I joined your program, you’re such an inspiration.”  I was secretly hoping she’d share her secrets.&nbsp;</p>



<p>She said, “GREAT! Join my next group!”  I had no idea what this meant &#8211; group?  What are we doing?  But she was where I wanted to be so I said “OK!”</p>



<p>My first day of her Challenge I realized her secret &#8211; community!  There were about 25 women in a private FB group sharing our goals, our schedules, our obstacles, and what we planned to eat that day!  We were bargaining on what could fit in the yellow portion container and having a great time!  We were celebrating goals and pulling each other along on the journey.&nbsp;</p>



<p>When I decided it was time for me to pay it forward as a Coach I knew that groups would be a part of my offering.  We can have all the tools and resources to achieve our success but the truth is so much of this is between our ears &#8211; our minds.  We need to work for self-love and a community of women working towards the same goals &#8211; happiness and health is EVERYTHING!&nbsp;</p>



<p>My 21-day pop up Challenge starts today and I’m equal parts excited and nervous but at the end of the day we’re going to have fun and support each other.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Are you getting ready for the Superbowl? I know that around here seeing the Cincinnati Bengals in the Superbowl is a pretty big deal and as someone who lives in a Capital City without a pro-Football team this is about as close as I’ll get to being in the thick of it!!!&nbsp;</p>



<p>The Superbowl this year might feel like a double whammy to your waistline because it’s immediately followed by Valentine’s Day. You’ve likely already determined that Sunday and Monday are days to indulge and if that’s the case, that’s OK! We’ll have a plan to detox Tuesday and shed some of that bloat.&nbsp;</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>2 tsp. olive oil</li><li>1 medium onion, sliced</li><li>1 medium green (or red) bell pepper, sliced</li><li>8 oz. sliced mushrooms</li><li>1 Tbsp. fresh oregano, finely chopped (or 1 tsp. dried oregano leaves) Sea salt (or Himalayan salt) and ground black pepper (to taste; optional) 8 oz. raw lean beef sirloin, sliced very thin</li><li>1⁄4 cup sliced banana (or cherry) peppers (optional)</li><li>2 oz. provolone cheese, thinly sliced</li><li>4 small whole-wheat rolls, split, toasted</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="instructions-1"><strong>Instructions</strong></h4>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Heat oil in large nonstick skillet (or griddle) over medium-high heat.</li><li>Add onion and bell pepper; cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until onions are soft. Add mushrooms and oregano. Season with salt and pepper if desired; cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until mushrooms are soft.</li><li>Add sirloin; cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until beef is cooked through.Top evenly with banana peppers (if desired) and cheese. Remove from heat; cover and let stand for 1 to 2 minutes, or until cheese is melted.</li><li>Top buns evenly with meat mixture; serve immediately.</li></ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>4 baked medium sweet potatoes cut in half 1 tsp. olive oil</li><li>1⁄2 tsp. sea salt (or Himalayan salt)</li><li>1⁄2 cup reduced-fat (2%) plain Greek yogurt 2 slices cooked turkey bacon chopped</li><li>2 medium tomatoes chopped</li><li>8 green onions thinly sliced</li></ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="instructions"><strong>Instructions</strong></h4>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Heat oven to 400° F.  </li><li>Scoop flesh out of sweet potatoes and reserve for another use. </li><li>Place skins on a baking sheet. Brush with oil and sprinkle with salt. </li><li>Bake for 10 minutes, or until crisp. </li><li>Top each sweet potato half evenly with yogurt, turkey bacon, tomato, and green onions.</li></ul>

<p>It feels like February just started but Spring Break is right around the corner. It’s almost time to shed the sweaters, visit someplace warm, and put on those swimsuits and I am so excited to host this group and help you reach your health and fitness goals! Before I found my at-home workouts and super simple clean nutrition…</p>



<p>I dreaded Spring Break every year. I was never ready and always felt stressed about the trip. What a bummer! Now I have the tools to get into shape and feel great and it’s the best when I do it with a group of strong women who are here to support each other! Life is busy but we are no longer the first thing skipped on the to do list! We are here to rally each other and say feel GREAT!&nbsp;</p>



<p>I am a working mom of 3 and I love being involved with my kids activities at school. Doing all of the things makes us feel stretched thin and guilty for taking a few minutes for ourselves. Our group is a reminder that it’s OK and downright critical that you find at least 20 minutes just for you each day. NO GUILT. Being surrounded by other busy mamas who love their kids helps me remember that taking a few minutes for me makes me a better mom, a better employee, a better wife, and a better friend. It reduces my anxiety and clears my head. I feel confident when I go into my closet to grab something to wear instead of beat down.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I am leading my family by example. When I make good choices, my husband gets on board too and the kids are more likely to get moving and be more open to veggies over sugar for every snack.&nbsp;</p>



<p>But transformation is not just about fitness. Finding your confidence, self love, motivation, and spark …. well it’s an inside job. That’s why we focus on body AND MIND! It’s all about mindset in our group while transforming your daily fitness and nutrition habits!&nbsp;</p>

<p>I was an athlete in high school &#8211; soccer, basketball, cheerleading and I had always benefited from an average frame. I also had a sweet tooth and no concept of eating clean. I also have a tendency to be on the extremes like eating way too much or eating way too little. I spend most of my youth, like most of us, swinging from one direction to the other. From a size 8 to a size 2. I know a size 8 is fine and it was. Like you I look back and think you always looked great why couldn’t you see that and why is it so hard for us to see ourselves in a positive light in the present.&nbsp;</p>



<p>My starts and stops on exercise continued after high school as did my love for fried foods and beer. I was having a good time but I just never really felt good in my skin. Every Monday was the same, I’m going to pull it together this week and a lot of times I would. I would struggle all week trying to keep calories down and get a few workouts in at the gym to hit Friday and destroy all the progress x2. This cycle repeated for 20 years. No joke.&nbsp;</p>



<p>My husband and I struggled for years with infertility. Clomid, IUI, acupuncture, teas, cleanses, you name it, I tried it. We finally moved to IVF and endured the 40+ shots a month I consider us the lucky ones. After two rounds we were blessed with 3 babes; our daughter Parker who is almost 9 and twins, Paige and Dempsey who are 7. We built an incredible family. The chaos of daily life and the constant undertone of “this is always all you wanted” propelled me into mom only mode. This, plus working a demanding 9-5 as a Marketing Executive was enough to take up every hour. And then the pandemic hit.&nbsp;</p>



<p>In some ways it was a blessing (in the beginning). Everything slowed down. I saw my kids. I didn’t have to rush every moment. But after a year of being mom, savior, cook, teacher, piano teacher, friend, nurse … I was so tired. I went from working out a few times a week to never. From wine on the weekends to every night. To tortured sleep and endless tasks. And it was like STOOOOOOP! What is happening here?&nbsp;</p>



<p>I was lost in days that blurred into one another filled with endless tasks serving others. I’m sure you can relate. I had no direction. No passion. No motivation.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Something needed to change.&nbsp;</p>



<p>But we were, and still are, in the middle of a pandemic I knew I was lucky to have the work I have earning an income at home so I wasn’t quitting my job. I love my husband and my kids lol so not that’s not changing. So what then?&nbsp;</p>



<p>Oh. That something that needed to change was me.&nbsp;</p>



<p>So what first? I landed on physical health mainly because I knew that at the end of the day this is something I had control of. I made the choice to have a glass (or 2) of wine every night, eat carbs for every meal, and pass on fruits and veggies like I was allergic. As much as I told myself it wasn’t my fault I felt tired, bloated, and lethargic most of the time … it was my fault. I 100% had control of that so that’s where I started. But as usual I go 120% in and decided that even though I had zero credibility being a health and fitness coach &#8211; the only way I was going to stay committed was if others needed me for their journeys as well.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I signed up to be a Beachbody Coach on December 20, 2020, ran a free group in January and never looked back. I wasn’t one of those coaches who someone asked 4x before she said yes. Nobody asked me. I was kind of in this whole thing alone, but as an introvert and sometimes loaner that worked for me. I was able to think and learn at my own pace which I also realized gave me the feeling of excitement and joy vs. anxiety. Anxiety … the feeling I have almost every moment at my corporate 9-5. I like will never measure up. Like 15 years in I have no idea what I’m doing and someone is going to find out at any moment. Hard core imposter syndrome ummkay.&nbsp;</p>



<p>So anyway, I dove in andI started with 21 Day Fix and then went to 9 Week Control Freak. Autumn is my spirit animal. I drank the shakes and started using Energize. I got up every day and did my workout. I ate simple Fixate approved meals. I lost 10 pounds. You guys … ten pounds I had been “trying” to lose since I knew what it meant to want to lose a few pounds. I got abs. I got freakin motivated! I realized we get one trip &#8211; make it count!!! I got busy mamas excited about exercise again! Is it too much to say this has changed my whole life?&nbsp;</p>



<p>MY WHOLE LIFE!&nbsp;</p>



<p>Now I get up and journal, affirm my self-worth just for being me, read personal development, workout, get women started on their own journey and am building a team of coaches myself. Because here’s the thing … if I can lose the 10 pounds that’s been hanging around with me for 20+ years just by following the simple steps that were laid out for me you know I’m going to build a HUGE business by following the simple steps that are laid out for me.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Is this all easy?&nbsp; Oh hell no…it’s not easy. Is it simple? Yes, it’s simple. Is it crazy, probably but is it super fun &#8211; you betch!!&nbsp; I’m literally the most excited, passionate, confident, motivated I’ve EVER BEEN! I still have lots of work to do because honestly I was pretty low and my vision and goals are so high now there are days I feel defeated and that I can never make them happen. Other mornings I wake up thinking girl, you’re already there. Life is a trip, isn’t it? I’m just so thankful I found something that makes Life fun again.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Welcome to my story where I’ll take you on my journey to be in the best shape of my life &#8211; mentally and physically while I build a huge business and raise my family … all while working a demanding 9-5!&nbsp;</p>
